How to spend your salary and how to buy happiness with it?

I don’t know how many of us know exactly what to do with the salary we get. I don’t until I read “The richest man in Babylon”. You may think you have to save some amount from the salary, buy things that you always wanted and there are other expenses like rent, food, entertainment. The method that I am going to say may suit you or it may not. You can always modify according to your needs. No matter what your salary amount is, take 10% and let the money grow. You can invest in the field where you are sure of getting the positive results. Then the next 20%, you can use it for paying debt or EMI. I would suggest that before taking an EMI option, make sure that EMI does not exceed your 20% of your salary. If you are buying a house, then you can go for 30% of your salary (10% investment + 20% EMI) as EMI because I consider buying a house is kind of an investment. With the remaining 70% of your salary, you can live as you want. Suppose you have invested 10,000 whi...

How to stop worrying about the future (Purely impractical steps)?

We, human beings worry about future a lot. We spend an hour for every 8-hour thinking about the future. So how do we stop doing that? The reason we think so much about our future is our frontal lobe, a part of the brain that resides just above our eyes. If you take your frontal lobe out by surgery, you would feel more calm and you can even escape from depression. This partial destruction of frontal lobe became the standard surgery for anxiety and depression. The Nobel prize for medicine for given to Egas Moniz in 1949 as he discovered that removing frontal lobe would give us the calming experience. Removing the frontal lobe would help you to think only about the present and you will live in the present forever. If that was the case, I think at some point in our life we would go and do the surgery but it has its own demerits. You cannot possibly think about the future. If someone asks you what you would do tomorrow, you would become blank, literally blank. ...

Why skipping songs makes you less happy?

I have exactly 572 songs in my mobile storage and I put the songs in shuffle and keep on clicking next button until I have the song I hoped for. But while riding the bike, I won’t click the next button even though I can do that through my earphones. I suggest not to hear songs but don’t throw a statement like “You do that first”, “Do what you preach”. So, when will I enjoy the songs more? While relaxing in my bed where I have the option to choose whatever I want or while riding the bike. And the answer is while riding the bike. I have two experiments to prove my hypothesis. The first experiment is based on a photography course study. This study happened before the digital revolution. The photography teachers taught the students about how to take best photograph. At the end of the course, students were asked to take two best photographs. Among the two, one photograph has to be submitted as a reference for future students and other one can be kept by the students. The students ...
